Hello friends, today I have written an article about the course of B.Sc 4th Year students under the 4th Year Undergraduate Programme, so that all students can know about their course first.

It is very important for B.Sc students to know how many Major Papers (MJC Papers), MIC Papers, MDC Papers, AEC Papers, VAC Papers and SEC Papers they will have in each semester of 4th Year Graduation.

Friends, see, when we take admission in Graduation, we choose and confirm our Major Course at the time of admission. For example, suppose I applied for B.Sc Zoology in 10 colleges of Patliputra University (PPU). I got B.Sc Zoology in AN College, Patliputra University. I went there and took admission in B.Sc Zoology.

This means that I took admission in B.Sc Zoology and my Major Course (MJC) is Zoology. I will get my degree through this paper.

Your MJC paper is a fixed paper. You cannot change it. In the old 3 Year Graduation System, these papers were called Honours Papers.

Today, instead of Honours, you have to say MJC Zoology. However, people still call the Major Paper an Honours Paper. But the value of the Major Paper is the same as Honours.

Earlier, students studied Subsidiary Papers and General Papers along with Honours. But now Subsidiary Papers have been removed and courses like MIC, MDC, AEC, SEC, VAC, Internship and Research Project have been introduced.

Friends, now we will understand step by step what all these papers are and what their full forms are.

MIC Paper

The full form of MIC is Minor Course.

You have to study this paper along with your Major Paper until the last semester of 4th Year Graduation. But you will have only 1–2 MIC papers, while most of your papers will be MJC Papers.

For the MIC paper, the subject that you fill in MIC at the time of college registration will be your MIC Paper. You will have to study this subject in every semester. This paper will not change like the Major Paper.

MDC Paper

The full form of MDC is Multi Disciplinary Course.

You will study this paper only from Semester 1 to Semester 4. You can change the MDC Paper. However, remember to fill it early while filling the semester course form. Otherwise, all the MDC seats may become full.

You will get the option to choose the MDC subject while filling the semester course registration online/offline form. There will be an option like “Select from Basket.” You can choose any paper as your MDC subject.

For example, a student whose MJC is Zoology can choose Botany, Chemistry, Statistics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, and other subjects according to the available options.

AEC Paper

The full form of AEC is Ability Enhancement Course.

You will study this paper only from Semester 1 to Semester 4. You will get the option to choose the AEC subject while filling the semester course registration online/offline form. There will be an option like “Select from Basket.”

In this paper, you will have to study subjects like MIL English Literature, Communication in Everyday and Professional Communication. Courses like NSS, NCC, NGOs, Social Service, Environmental Science and Disaster Risk Management may also be included. It depends on your college which syllabus they keep in AEC for the students to study.

SEC Paper

The full form of SEC is Skill Enhancement Course.

You will study this paper only from Semester 1 to Semester 3. This paper will change every semester.

You will get the option to choose the SEC subject while filling the semester course registration online/offline form. There will be an option like “Select from Basket.”

In this paper, you will get subjects like the AEC paper, such as Communication and English Literature. This paper depends on your College Principal. The paper which the Principal asks to keep will be kept by all the Heads of Department.

VAC Paper

The full form of VAC is Value Added Course.

You will study this paper only in Semester 1 and Semester 2. This paper will change in Semester 1 and Semester 2.

You will get the option to choose the VAC subject while filling the semester course registration online/offline form. There will be an option like “Select from Basket.” In this paper, you will have subjects like Swachh Bharat, Fit India, Yoga, Constitutional Duties, Ethics and Culture, Digital Empowerment and Sports for Life.

This paper depends on your College Principal. It depends on the Principal how many options they keep in Semester 1 and Semester 2 and which subject the student will study.

This main point is very important to understand.

Your MJC Paper is the same in Semester 1 and Semester 2, but when you move to the next semesters, the number of your MJC Papers starts increasing.

For example, in Semester 1, you will study MJC 1.

All papers will be like this: MIC 1, MDC 1, AEC 1, SEC 1 and VAC 1.

In Semester 2, it will become MJC 2, MIC 2, MDC 2, AEC 2, SEC 2 and VAC 2.

But when you come to Semester 3, there will be 2 Major Papers. For example, it will become MJC 3 and MJC 4, because your VAC Paper ends here.

If there are practicals in any MJC Paper, then the papers in Semester 1 will be like this: MJC 1 (Theory) and MJC 1 (Practical)

If there are practicals in MIC and MDC, they will also be in the same way and all papers will be of 100 marks, whether it is a Theory Paper or Practical Paper.

Internship

Friends, now let us know about the 40 hours Internship. In which semester will you have to do it?

According to the Internship Course, it is called Summer Internship. It is compulsory to do it in Semester 5, because it is of 100 marks. It depends on your department how many groups they make and where they send you for the internship.

The certificate that you get there has to be submitted to your college, and whatever experience or knowledge you gain during the internship, you have to make a PPT and give a presentation in front of your college professor. Then you will get marks.

After Semester 6 in the 4th Year Undergraduate Programme

When you reach Semester 6 in the 4th Year Undergraduate Programme, you get two options.

You can either exit from college and get a B.Sc, B.A or B.Com degree. You will get a Plain Degree, not an Honours Degree. Or you can study for one more year and get an Honours or Honours with Research degree.

For admission to Semester 7 and for getting a Research with Honours degree, you have to complete some criteria. Only then can you get admission and get a B.Sc Honours degree, or Honours in MJC Zoology will be written on the degree and students who complete the criteria for Honours with Research will do the Research Project/Dissertation.

To understand this, I have written an article about Admission in Semester 7 Admission Criteria. The link is given below. You can click on it and read the article.

MJC MIC MDC AEC SEC VAC

4th Year Graduation के हर semester में कितने Major Paper (MJC Paper), MIC Paper, MDC Paper, AEC Paper, VAC Paper और SEC Paper होंगे, यह B.Sc Zoology के 4th Year Graduation करने वाले students के लिए जानना बहुत जरूरी है।

मुझे Patliputra University के AN College में B.Sc Zoology allot हो गया।

MIC Paper

MIC paper का full form Minor Course होता है।

यह paper हमेशा Major Paper के साथ आपको 4th Year Graduation के Last Semester तक पढ़ना होगा।

MDC Paper

इसमें “Select from Basket” जैसा option रहेगा।

AEC Paper

इसमें “Select from Basket” जैसा option रहेगा।

इस paper में आपको MIL English Literature, Communication in Everyday, Professional Communication जैसे syllabus पढ़ने होंगे।

SEC Paper

इसमें “Select from Basket” जैसा option रहेगा।

VAC Paper

इसमें “Select from Basket” जैसा option रहेगा।

इस paper में आपको Swachh Bharat, Fit India, Yoga, Constitutional Duties, Ethics and Culture, Digital Empowerment, Sports for Life जैसे subjects होंगे।

MJC 1 (Practical)

Practical Paper

Internship

4th Year Undergraduate Programme में Semester 6 के बाद

NEP 2020
Image: AI

पूरे B.A , B.Sc.

CBCS System 4th Year Undergraduate Programme

ESE Exam System

CIA Exam

ESE Exam

Semester 2

Semester 4

Semester 6

4th Year Graduation Admission

Semester 8

Department of Higher Education, Government of Bihar ने UGC के दिशा-निर्देशों के आधार पर 4-Year Undergraduate Programme लागू करने के आदेश को आधिकारिक रूप से मंजूरी दी है।

Q1. Cyclosis in Paramecium: Explain the process of streaming movement of cytoplasm (cyclosis) in Paramecium?

Answer:

Cyclosis is the continuous movement of cytoplasm inside the cell.

The cytoplasm moves in a circular/streaming manner.

This movement is mainly caused by the activity of cytoplasmic fibres.

It helps in the distribution of food, oxygen and other materials inside the body.

Cytoplasm continuously flows inside Paramecium, helping in the movement and distribution of materials.

STREAMING MOVEMENT OF CYTOPLASM (CYCLOSIS) IN PARAMECIUM

• Cyclosis is the continuous streaming or movement of cytoplasm inside the body of Paramecium.

• The cytoplasm is divided into ectoplasm and endoplasm.

• The endoplasm shows a slow and continuous streaming movement.

• The cytoplasm moves in a definite direction and forms a continuous circulation.

• This movement is caused by the activity of cytoplasmic fibres and contractile elements.

• Cyclosis helps in the distribution of digested food to different parts of the body.

• It helps in the movement of nutrients and oxygen within the cell.

• It also helps in carrying waste materials towards the places from where they are removed.

• It helps in maintaining proper cell activities.

• Thus, cyclosis is important for the internal transport and distribution of materials in Paramecium.

Cyclosis is the streaming movement of cytoplasm that helps in the transport and distribution of materials inside Paramecium.

Q2. Spicules of Sycon: Describe the chemical composition and types of skeletal spicules found in Sycon.

Answer:

SPICULES OF SYCON

Chemical Composition:

• Sycon is a simple marine sponge belonging to Phylum Porifera.

• Its skeleton is mainly made up of small needle-like structures called spicules.

• The spicules of Sycon are mainly made of calcium carbonate.

• Calcium carbonate is present mainly in the form of calcium carbonate crystals.

• Spicules are formed by special cells called scleroblasts.

• They provide support and strength to the body of Sycon.

Types of Spicules:

• The spicules are mainly of two types: megascleres and microscleres.

What is 4th year Undergraduate CBCS System? Which is applicable to all Universities: NEP 2020

CBCS System kya hai,New Education Policy kya hai

The 4-Year Undergraduate System under the CBCS pattern was introduced in Bihar from the 2023–2027 session. Under this system, the old annual examination system was replaced by the semester system.

Now, instead of appearing for one examination every year, students have to appear for semester examinations. Generally, students have to appear for an examination after every six months.

The complete graduation programme is divided into eight semesters, covering four academic years.

What is CBCS?

CBCS System is a part of the 4th Year Undergraduate Programme. In the old annual graduation system, students had to score marks every year. But now, students still have to score marks, but marks will not have the same value as before.

Now, it has become very important for students to earn credits in every semester. Only then will they get admission to the next semester.

However, if a student gets the passing marks in all papers of a semester, they will get the complete credits. But getting good marks and a good CGPA is also very important.

This is because a good CGPA is important to become eligible for the Research with Honours degree after Semester 6. It also helps students to open the way to PhD after completing the 4th Year Undergraduate Programme.

This Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced so that students have fewer chances of failing and can complete their degree more easily.

Under this CBCS System, students will have 20 credits in each semester and a total of 160 credits in four years.

CIA and ESE Examination System

Before appearing in the End Semester Examination, students also have to complete the internal assessment.

CIA Examination

CIA stands for Continuous Internal Assessment. The internal examination carries 30 marks.

According to the criteria mentioned for this system, students need to obtain the prescribed minimum marks in the internal assessment. The passing requirement mentioned here is 12.5 marks out of 30.

ESE Examination

ESE stands for End Semester Examination. The End Semester Examination carries 70 marks.

According to the criteria mentioned here, students need to obtain 31.5 marks out of 70 to pass the ESE component.

Students should keep in mind that examination and passing rules may depend on the latest regulations of their respective University. Therefore, students should always check the latest official notification.

What Happens If You Exit After Different Semesters?

The 4-Year Graduation system provides different exit options at different stages, subject to the applicable academic and credit requirements.

After Semester 2

If a student successfully completes Semester 1 and Semester 2 and wants to exit after one year, the student may receive a UG Certificate according to the applicable rules.

After Semester 4

If a student successfully completes Semester 3 and Semester 4 and decides to exit after two years, the student may receive a Diploma according to the applicable provisions.

After Semester 6

If a student successfully completes Semester 5 and Semester 6 and decides to exit after three years, the student may receive the relevant UG Degree.

For example, depending on the programme, the degree may be B.Sc, B.Com or B.A.

You need to be clear about the 4th year graduation admission.

Some University-level ppu notices and interpretations have created confusion among students regarding the requirement of 7.5 CGPA.

According to one interpretation, students having a CGPA of 7.5 or above are eligible for the Research pathway and may receive a Honours with Research degree after completing the 4th Year.

On the other hand, students below 7.5 CGPA have been understood by some students as being ineligible for 4th Year admission and being restricted to a regular Honours degree.

However, it is important to understand that 4th Year admission and Research eligibility are two different matters.

After semester 8

According to the interpretation of the UGC framework discussed in this article, the 7.5 CGPA criterion is connected with the Research/Dissertation pathway. Students meeting the required CGPA may undertake a Dissertation or Research Project in Semester 8 and become eligible for the Honours with Research pathway.

Students who do not meet the required CGPA may continue through the applicable Honours pathway without the Research component and receive the corresponding Honours degree after fulfilling the programme requirements.

Therefore, students should not simply assume that a CGPA below 7.5 automatically means that they cannot enter Semester 7. The exact admission criteria must be confirmed from the latest applicable University and government notification.

A key feature of this system is that students do not waste time. If they leave their studies after one or two years, as they can obtain qualification like UG Certificate or Diploma. This saves time, allowing them to pursue other courses or internship. Previously, under the annual graduation system, missing an exam meant having to start the entire process over again.

Official Bihar Government Notification:

The Department of Higher Education, Government of Bihar, has officially approved and signed the implementation order for the 4-Year Undergraduate Programme based on the UGC guidelines. You can download the signed official order copy below.

B.Sc 2023–2027 4th Year Graduation Admission Criteria: Who Will Get Admission in Semester 7?

B.Sc 2023–2027 Session students in Bihar are facing a lot of confusion regarding 4th Year Graduation admission. Many students are asking an important question: Will every student get admission in the 4th Year, or will only students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above be eligible?

There is also confusion about the 7.5 CGPA rule, Research, Honours with Research, 108 credits and admission to Semester 7.

In this article, we will explain the complete process step by step in simple language so that B.Sc 2023–2027 students can understand the 4th Year Graduation admission criteria clearly.

Now Let us Understand the 4th Year Graduation Admission Process

This issue has created considerable confusion among the first batch of students of the 2023–2027 session. There has also been confusion among students regarding how the UGC guidelines are to be implemented in the 4th year undergraduate program by different Universities.

One of the biggest points of confusion is the 7.5 CGPA requirement.

What is the 7.5 CGPA Rule?

Some University-level notices and interpretations have created confusion among students regarding the requirement of 7.5 CGPA.

According to the interpretation of the UGC framework discussed in this article, the 7.5 CGPA criterion is connected with the Research project/Dissertation pathway.

The exact admission criteria must be confirmed from the latest applicable University and bihar governor notification.

What are the Main Criteria for Semester 7 Admission?

For B.Sc 2023–2027 students, several important points need to be checked before taking admission in Semester 7.

1. Completion of Semester 1 to Semester 6

Students must complete the required academic requirements from Semester 1 through Semester 6.

2. Required Credits Up to Semester 6

Credits are one of the most important parts of the CBCS system.
According to the admission criteria discussed here, students are required to have 108 out of 120 credits up to Semester 6.

Therefore, students should not check only their CGPA. They should also check their total earned credits up to Semester 6.

3. Semester 5 Internship

Semester 5 Internship is also an important requirement.

Students should ensure that they have completed their Internship according to the rules of their University.

4. Fulfilment of University Requirements

Apart from CGPA, credits and Internship, students may also have to fulfil other academic and administrative requirements prescribed by their University.

Therefore, before applying for Semester 7, students should carefully check the latest official notification issued by their University.

What is the 4th Year Admission and Honours With Research?

This is the important point that students need to understand.

The 4th Year consists of Semester 7 and Semester 8. The Research or Dissertation component is associated with the applicable pathway and eligibility requirements.

Students who fulfil the prescribed CGPA and other conditions may be eligible for the Research pathway.

Students who do not fulfil the Research eligibility criteria may follow the applicable Honours pathway without Research.

Why are 108 Credits Important for 4th Year Admission?

Under the CBCS system, students earn credits for different courses and academic activities.

According to the criteria discussed here, a student should have 108 credits by the completion of Semester 6 for 4th Year admission.

Therefore, B.Sc 2023–2027 students should carefully check their marksheet, academic record or University portal to confirm their total credits.

Students should also make sure that their Semester 5 Internship and other required academic components have been completed.

Bihar Universities Where Students are Facing This Confusion

The 4th Year Graduation issue is important for students studying in various Universities of Bihar, including:

Purnia University

Jai Prakash University, Chapra

Munger University

and other Universities following the applicable 4-Year Undergraduate Programme framework.

The Golden Roadmap : Semester 1 to Semester 8

To avoid any confusion, let us break down the entire academic journey into a simple, step by step sequences:

Semester 1 → Semester 2 → Semester 3 → Semester 4 → Semester 5 → Semester 6 → Check CGPA and Credits → Check Internship → Check University Eligibility → Semester 7 Admission → Semester 8

After completing Semester 6, students should check the following:

Semester 6 CGPA

Total credits obtained up to Semester 6

Semester 5 Internship status

All previous semester results

University admission notification

The 7.5 CGPA criterion is particularly important for the Research/Dissertation pathway and the Honours with Research degree.
